Section 25 of the Constitution of the UAE provides equal treatment of individuals with regard to race, nationality, religious belief or social status. But many Dubai 250,000 foreign workers live in conditions described by Human Rights Watch as "subhuman." NPR reports that workers "typically live eight to a room, sending home a portion of their salary to their families as they see t in years." On March 21, 2006, workers upset about the construction site of Burj Dubai, bus schedules and working conditions, rioted: damaging cars, offices, computers and construction tools.
Labour alleged injustices in Dubai have attracted the attention of various human rights groups have tried to persuade the government to be signed for two of eight ILO core conventions, allowing the formation of unions. The Dubai government has denied any injustices at work and said the accusations were misplaced monitoring.
